of the unit. When I is selected from the Help menu on page 382, the following is
displayed. Enter E.

refer to the appropriate chapter.

Monitor
Menu
The Monitor Menu allows monitoring the communications traffic on any line
connected to a TXPORT MultiPro unit. An experienced user can identify data
communications problems on any circuit. When 1 (Monitor Menu) is selected from
the Main menu, the following screen is presented.
MONITOR MENU
-------------------------
B - Begin monitoring
C - Begin monitoring (Condensed mode)
M - Main menu
Enter choice :
Choose either B or C to monitor data on a port. Normally B is selected because it
inserts a carriage return and line feed between the transmitted and received data.
The following prompt is displayed.
ENTER TARGET (unit.linemodule.link -> xxx.yy.zz) :
Enter the unit number (xxx), a period (.), the line module number (yy), a period (.)
and the port number (zz). The unit displays the traffic on the specified port.
An *R appearing within the display indicates that the data following was received
on the port. An *T appearing within the display indicates that the data following
was transmitted on the port. Characters that cannot be displayed are represented by
a standard code shown delimited by < and >. For example, an ASCII 04 is shown
as <EOT>.
When the unit displays a stream of data within a single message, only some data is
shown, so that the display keeps up with the actual traffic being transmitted and
received. The monitor function is designed to assist in the resolution of protocol
problems rather than message problems.
To stop monitoring, press Escape.
