Trailing Pad Characters
Pad characters are dummy characters sent at the end of a synchronous transmission.
Two PAD characters should be used on sync lines, while 0 are used on async lines.
The selections are 0
to 2.
Offline Delay Retry
This is the time, in seconds, the unit waits between attempts to poll a station
marked offline. The selections are 1 to 255, 30
.
Turnaround Delay
The turnaround delay is the time, in milliseconds, the unit waits between the
receipt of a message and the transmission of the response. If the connected device
seems to be missing messages because they are coming back too quickly, this
value should be increased. A Turnaround Delay of 10 should be used on sync
lines, while a value of 0 is used for async.
The values for this parameter are in 10-millisecond increments. A value that is not
a factor of 10 rounds down to the nearest 10-millisecond factor.
Example: A value of 15 rounds down to 10 milliseconds.
The selections are 0
to 2550.
Maximum Select before Poll
This value represents the consecutive number of selects that are sent to a device
before normal polling is resumed. This prevents a locking condition where a
terminal constantly NAKs a select because it has a message to send. The selections
are 1
to 255.
RTS/CTS Control
This parameter controls the RTS (request to send) and CTS (clear to send)
signaling. The DTE/DCE setting of the port determines which lead is affected by
this parameter as shown in Table 8-1.
Select Retry Delay
If a device is selected 50 consecutive times, and NAKs the select each time, the
unit places the device in a slow select state. The value in this field determines the
number of seconds between each select. The selections are 1 to 255, 10
.
Table 8-1
RTS/CTS Control
Setting DTE DCE
O (on) RTS is always on. CTS is always on.
D (dynamic) RTS is on during
data transmit.
CTS is on in
response to RTS.
F (floating) RTS is not used. CTS is not used.
